Anna Danziger Halperin, one of our NYCTC alums, has written two articles based on her research into the history of social policy and child care in the US and Britain. The first, “An Unrequited Labor of Love: Child Care and Feminism”, was recently published in Signs, and can be read here. The second is a piece for the Washington Post’s Made by History blog, entitled “Richard Nixon bears responsibility for the pandemic’s child-care crisis”, which can be read here. Anna is the Andrew W. Mellon postdoctoral fellow in women’s history and public history at the New-York Historical Society. She is writing a book on the history of child care, motherhood and race since the 1960s.
